Winter Expedition
Based at a beautiful Cross Country Ski Center in upstate NY, Osceola Ski & Sport, this course will focus on different ways to travel through the winter environment. Students will learn the skills of hiking, snowshoeing, and traditional cross-country skiing, where there are no ski lifts and no artificial snow. Navigation, route finding, and group travel practice will prepare students for a remote, state forest experience on the final day. We will stay in rustic lodge accommodations adjacent to the ski trails, cook meals together, and work as a team to travel and live together safely and efficiently. No prior ski experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided.
