Once the teacher successfully completes the requirements of instruction and supervised student teaching, they are eligible to take the Academic Language Therapist Association (ALTA) teacher level exam. Certification is dependent upon a passing grade on this exam.

Certification is an assurance to parents, psychologists and schools that the teacher has mastered the techniques necessary to teach the student with a language-based learning disability. In addition, this certification is a national certification that is recognized in other states.
