SAILING Biscayne Bay, Florida

December 26 - 31, 2019

Sailing in Biscayne Bay, FL: December 2019.

This is the sailing trip that takes place on Biscayne Bay South of Miami and sails South along the Florida Keys.

The group will sail their flotilla of two or three boats, from Dinner Key to Key Largo and back. If the weather permits, each day will include snorkeling on a coral reef, swimming, and exploring the local beaches. The group will be divided into crews of three to five to live onboard a 36' Hunter sailboat or something similar. The students are the crew and therefore they will be sailing the boats by raising and lowering the sails, navigating their course, manning the helm, cooking and keeping the vessel ship-shape.

Students develop leadership, teamwork and self-confidence skills as well as seamanship, and environmental science. A maximum of twelve students (four per boat) with one teacher and one captain per boat, will go on this six-day expedition.

The fee will include airfare, food, charter and all equipment. Additional costs will include airline luggage fee, food at the airports, souvenirs, and a tip for the captain.

December 26-31, 2019

Cost: $2,800
