Adventure Based Learning Experience
February 13-18, 2019 (a 5-day weekend)
In Ski Touring, students who have never been on cross-country skies before take six days to go from learning the basic kick-n-glide to negotiating backcountry trails in the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains, New York.
We'll be starting at the Osceola Tug Hill Cross Country Ski Area and ending near Keene, New York, ten miles south of Lake Placid. A maximum of eight students with two teachers will go on the six-day trip. Nights will be spent in lodges and a scenic wilderness cabin. The group will work together to cook, eat and prepare for the daily skiing adventure.
The group will ski groomed trails as well as some backcountry trails. The course teaches basic cross-country skiing, proper use of the equipment, and trail etiquette. The course includes six periods of class time meetings prior to the trip.
