Creative Arts in the Summer Program

The students in our 2015 Summer Program are entering the fourth week of activities, and we'd like to share with you some of the fun and creative work they've been making in the art program that is part of our curriculum.

Middle school students in Katie's clay class have been creating whimsical animals, monster vases, and masks. They've worked with the clay, chosen and applied glazes, and have experienced the wait and excitement that comes with placing something in the kiln and hoping it will all come out ok. High school students in Maggie's multi media art class have worked on collages, and more recently have cut stencils from photographs and made prints from the resulting work. They've also designed a colorful tiled poster with the DVFS dragon, and have enjoyed a little spare time outdoors with sidewalk chalk. You can see some of their creative work in this slideshow:
