Meet DVFS Alum | Doriana, Class of 2016

Gaby Macera, Class of 2012

Doriana Gabrielle Diaz graduated from DVFS in 2016 and she is currently a student at Temple University, where she is majoring in Women’s Studies with a minor in Spanish.She is the co-founder of a women’s collective that serves women of color on the Temple University campus with a focus on holistic wellness and self-care. Doriana has also started her own clothing line that caters to women of color called rye, which stands for remind yourself everyday. Read more about Doriana

Meet DVFS Alum | Genna, Class of 2007

Gaby Macera, Class of 2012

Genna Epstein graduated magna cum laude from Cabrini University in 2014 with a degree in Political Science and Social Work. She is currently in graduate school at Eastern University studying to be a certified school counselor. Genna is back at DVFS this year doing her graduate internship working with Christy Zawadzkas, the Lower/Middle School Counselor. Genna credits DV with giving her a foundation of self-advocate in every aspect of her life which led to both her professional and academic success. Read more about Genna.

Meet DVFS Alum | Imani, Class of 2012

Gaby Macera, Class of 2012

Imani Ayo-Oyar graduated from DVFS in 2012. She attended Delaware College of Art and Design, then transferred to Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, graduating in 2017 with a concentration in illustration. She will began a graduate program in the fall of 2018 at Drexel University in their Art Therapy and Counseling program with the goal of opening her own art therapy practice. Read more about Imani

Meet DVFS Alum | Lilly, Class of 2014

Gaby Macera, Class of 2012

Lilly Moser graduated in 2018 magna cum laude from the National Catholic School of Social Service at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Lilly is currently studying for her Master’s in Social Work at New York University’s Silver School of Social Work. During her graduate studies, she will intern at Services for The Underserved in Brooklyn, NY, as a case manager for adults experiencing severe mental illness and substance addiction. Meet DVFS Alum | Matt, Class of 1999

Gaby Macera, Class of 2012

Matt Azarva graduated from Delaware Valley Friends School in 1999. He graduated from Northeastern University in 2004 with a B.S. in Media Studies/Broadcasting. Matt spent 8 years at Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia as a Sports Producer, earning 2 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards. In 2014, he left the television industry and joined Klein Hersh International, an executive search firm focused on the healthcare and life sciences industries. Read more about Matt

Delaware Valley Friends School is lucky to have a number of Alumni that have come back to teach, coach, and work for the school. Katie Kent ’05, Khalil Munir ’01, Joe Trabucco ’10, Hunter Grogan ‘10, Bob Krick ‘02, Matt Cahill ’11, and Caitie Naab ’10 shared what they love about their new roles at DVFS as well as what the school has meant to them over the years.

Two DVFS alumni are published novelists: Cordelia Faass ‘14 published An Angel, A Demon and A Candle (2012) and A Demon Underwater (2013) while still a student at DV. Isaac Fozard ‘16 published Coalheart: A Copprillium Novel in 2017. Read more-->

Gaby Macera, Class of 2012

Gaby Macera graduated from Delaware Valley Friends School in 2012. At DVFS, Gaby was an athlete - playing basketball for the school and participating in an international tournament in Amman, Jordan with the girls team. She was also active in the Diversity Committee, representing the school at two national diversity conferences in Colorado and Philadelphia. Gaby expressed her creativity and imagination as part of DV's Improv Acting Club. She graduated from Immaculata University in 2016 with a degree in psychology and is currently pursuing her Master's in Counseling Psychology at Temple University. Read more about Gaby

Meet DVFS Alum | Morris, Class of 2010

Morris Lowitz graduated from Drexel University in 2015 with a degree in computer science. Before his senior year, he did his final Co-op at Microsoft, and accepted a full-time position there after graduation. He is currently a software engineer working in enterprise commerce volume licensing at Microsoft in Seattle.

Meet DVFS Alum | Rachel, Class of 2010

Rachel Devor earned her bachelor's degree in public relations and marketing from American University and immediately went on to complete a master’s in sports management from Georgetown University. She currently works for the creative advertising agency Madwell in Brooklyn, New York, in the Social Media Department. Rachel credits DV with helping her to understand and be proud of both her strengths and weaknesses.

Meet DVFS Alum | Rob, Class of 2013

Rob Bielunas graduated from Delaware Valley Friends School in 2013. He graduated from Hofstra University in 2017 with a degree in political science and a minor in rhetoric. He is currently working for US Senator Bob Casey's office in Harrisburg as a constituent advocate. Read more.
Meet DVFS Alum | Tracy, Class of 2003

Gaby Macera, Class of 2012

Tracy (Heverly) Simmons graduated from DVFS in 2003. She received a B.A. in psychology from Bloomsburg University and an M.S. in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati, along with a paralegal certificate from Villanova University. Tracy spent eight years working with the non-profit Families of Murder Victims in Philadelphia, where she served as the organization’s Program Director. After many years in this challenging role, Tracy is excited to be changing careers while still pursuing her passion for helping others by teaching health, fitness and nutrition to disadvantaged youth in Philadelphia and starting a personal training business. Meet DVFS Alum | Catherine, Class of 2013

Catherine Martsolf graduated from Delaware Valley Friends School in 2013. While part of our school community, Catherine demonstrated strengths as a scholar, athlete and leader. She continues to give back to DVFS as an alumni mentor and recently spoke with Glenn Heck’s engineering class about career opportunities in that field. Catherine is currently studying Environmental Engineering with a focus on water quality and storm water management at Temple University where she was recently elected President of the Temple University chapter of Society of Women Engineers.

Meet DVFS Alum | Bekah, Class of 2000

Bekah Zietz graduated from the University of Vermont in 2004 with a degree in theater and a minor in film and English. She started with her current employer, Sub Pop Records, a Seattle-based record label, in 2010 and works as a publicist managing general publicity, international marketing and video promotion for artists. She recently became part of the A&R group at Sub Pop. in 2015, she created a boutique candle business called The Dark Crystal. Her candles are currently available at around 20 stores across the country. Read Bekah's story here.

Meet DVFS Alum | Elaine, Class of 1997

Elaine Replansky Savoy is Delaware Valley Friends School's 2015-16 Alumna of the year. She received her undergraduate degree from LaSalle University with a double major in Elementary and Special Education. After a few years working in special education in public school, Elaine earned a Master’s in Reading, Writing and Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania and she became a Certified Reading Specialist. Meet DVFS Alum | Emily, Class of 2008

After graduating from Delaware Valley Friends School in 2008, Emily spent five years completing her combined Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Occupational Therapy. Emily currently practices in a sub-acute rehabilitation center in Philadelphia where she works with older adults on all aspects of functional therapy. Ultimately, Emily would like to pursue her doctorate in occupational therapy and teach. Emily returned to DVFS in December 2015 to share her educational and work experience during a career mentoring program for seniors. Read Emily's story here.

Meet DVFS Alum | Khalil, Class of 2001

Award winning actor, Khalil Munir earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Adelphi University in Theater in 2005. He is currently a teaching artist at various institutions across Philadelphia offering classes in theater and creative movement. Khalil wrote, produced and performs his one-man show, “1 Pound 4 Ounces” at the National Jewish Museum in Philadelphia. Read Khalil's story here.

Meet DVFS Alum | Mike, Class of 2009

Mike Rullo graduated from Temple University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and minor in History. He received his law degree in 2016 from the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law , and joins Kessler Topaz, a Radnor law firm, in their derivatives and mergers and acquisitions litigation group. Read Mike's story here.

Meet DVFS Alum | Ashley, Class of 2001

Ashley earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Dickinson College in 2005 and completed her M.S. in Occupational Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University in 2010. Ashley is currently a pediatric occupational therapist at Miller Children's Hospital, Pediatric Rehab in Long Beach, California. Read Ashley's story here.

Meet DVFS Alum | David, Class of 1996

David earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the College of Wooster in 2000, and got his teaching certificate in 2002. He went on to get his Master’s degree in English in 2009 from Middlebury College Bread Loaf School of English. David currently works for the US Department of Education in Washington, D.C., as a financial management specialist. He works in the Rehabilitation Services Administration within the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services overseeing Federal funding for State Vocational Rehabilitation Services grants. Meet DVFS Alum | Melissa, Class of 1992

Melissa came to Delaware Valley Friends School in 8th grade with a non-specific language-based learning difference and ADHD. At DVFS Melissa's visual learning style was turned in to a strength that she learned to use. The teachers at DVFS helped her develop a "toolbox" of strategies and skills that, she believes, have helped her to become a successful adult. Read Melissa's story here.

Meet DVFS Alum | Nick, Class of 2013

Nick started at Delaware Valley Friends School in 7th grade, and, once there, found an environment in which he could truly grow. At DVFS, Nick was involved in a variety of student leadership programs that helped to build his confidence and allowed him to mentor other students with learning disabilities. Meet DVFS Alum | Esther, Class of 2005

Esther earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University in Theater in 2010 and she will complete her Master of Arts from Boston University in Gastronomy in 2017. She currently works at Metropolitan College at Boston University, as an Administrative Coordinator while she completes her graduate studies. There, she handles administrative duties as well as interaction with professors and students. She also manages student workers, course evaluations, and room scheduling.

Meet DVFS Alum | Dan, Class of 2008

Dan was always skilled in math; however, he struggled with reading as result of his learning difference. DVFS helped Dan to improve his reading, strengthen his math skills, and become more academically focused and organized.

Meet DVFS Alum | Chelsey, Class of 1998

Chelsey started at Delaware Valley Friends School in 9th grade. With a diagnosis of dyslexia Chelsey had struggled academically and with reading. At DV she learned the techniques that would help her read capably and with confidence. Today, Chelsey lives in Boston and works for Harvard University as a Training Program Manager, managing the career and professional development training classes for Harvard University staff.

Meet DVFS Alum | Andrew, Class of 2006

Andrew began attending Delaware Valley Friends School in 9th grade and graduated in 2006. While at DVFS, Andrew enjoyed participating in sports and the arts. Today, Andrew is a Senior Associate at a major financial consulting firm. Andrew credits Delaware Valley Friends School with helping him to develop his character. He says that the school's Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship, along with the individual attention and kindness of the teachers had the biggest impact on who he is today. Meet DVFS Alum | Larry, Class of 2010

Larry came to DV in 7th grade, with a diagnosis of dyslexia and ADD. Larry attributes the Quaker values he learned at DV with contributing to his sense of integrity and being honest with himself.
