Winter Break 2016 - ABLE Sailing in Florida
This winter break sailing trip takes place on Biscayne Bay South of Miami and sails South along the Florida Keys. Students are accompanied by ABLE Director Ken Sinapius and teacher Meredith Shinners. Follow their adventures on the Catamaran "Layover" and the sailing vessel "Soggy Dollar."
12/18 - Day 1 update from Meredith:
The kids are having a great time on day one of the sailing trip. Our captains are energetic and ready to let the kids take the helm-quite literally. We spent hours cleaning and readying the boat before loading a week's worth of food onto the girl's catamaran. After gassing up we set off to learn the ins and outs of sailing.
As much as it ripped his hands, Chase's favorite part of the day was raising the sail on the monohull for the first time. Our few hours of sailing were picturesque while dolphins, actual dolphins, frolicked in the water.
Looks like the crew is having a blast. Please keep the pictures coming. It was 20 degrees here in Paoli this morning. Have a great Day 2.
You guys look like you are having an amazing time. Vegan pizza Camille?
Looks amazing! Did everyone survive the rough water okay?
