Post #4 - ABLE Sailing Florida, DAY 3
Brett wrote today's Captain's Log:
Today the 19th of December around 2:00, I, Brett Levering, took the helm and saw two dolphins swimming by and struggled to take pictures of them. The end result was no pictures were taken. I'm noticing closer relationships, similar to what I experienced back at my old school; relationships that I've been missing for the past three years. I'm feeling particularly close to the ninth graders and to my fellow upperclassmen. The captains seem to know what they're doing and have a lot of confidence in what they are doing. Captain Glenn Fromm looks and acts a lot like my father. I'm enjoying the trip so far, it's a once in a lifetime thing, but I'm still looking forward to returning home and going to see the new Star Wars movie, seeing my new nephew and celebrating Christmas with my friends. Now it's about 6:00 and we are about to eat dinner. I look forward to going on my 5th ABLE trip soon. I'm enjoying my status of the current student with the most ABLE trips. This was my 18th birthday present- thank you Mom and Dad.
Here are some photos from today:
What a great reflection, Brett. It must have been amazing to have two dolphins swim by when you were piloting the boat.
You have a great attitude Brett! Your kind words must make your family very happy and proud. Sounds like even the dolphins abide by the buddy system...wise creatures. Smooth sailing to all the crew : )
Brett, congratulations on your new nephew! Your considerable experience as a sailor must be a help to our DV crew. It's 39 degrees here - enjoy the warmth!
It was great reading you blog today, Brett - what an awesome experience. Curious if you or any of your crew mates were able to determine what kind of dolphins you saw . . .what other fish have you seen when you've been snorkeling?
