Athletics at DV
At Delaware Valley Friends School, we value interscholastic athletics, and our program is an integral part of the educational experience.
Our mission is to teach and promote sportsmanship, ethical conduct, discipline, and teamwork, while developing the physical and mental well being of our student athletes.
Our athletic program is broad and provides opportunities for all students to participate as well as excel. Members of the Tri-County Independent School League since 1994, more than 80% of students participate in interscholastic sports teams in both middle and upper school. We offer boys and girls teams in soccer, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and golf.
Our teams have earned a number of League championships, including titles in soccer, golf, ultimate and lacrosse. Our athletic program has also won the League sportsmanship award eight times and the Chester County Sports Officials Sportsmanship and Fair Play Award three times.
The DVFS mascot is the dragon, and teams are know as the "DVFS Dragons."
Upper school students are required to participate in one sport per year to fulfill the school's physical fitness requirement. Many students choose to play multiple sports at DV. Our no-cut policy encourages all students to participate -- even if they are new to the sport.
When a student seriously pursues a sport that DV does not offer, it is possible to receive athletic credit for that activity.
Accommodations are made for students who are not physically able to participate.<--- Back to Beyond Academics
