ABLE Skiing - Day 2
Day 2 of ABLE Ski Touring started with a hot breakfast. It was a cold but clear first full day of skiing with temperatures hovering around zero, no wind, and lots of sunshine and blue skies. We skied from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. The trails were not crowded today, but the ski center is expecting another school group tomorrow. Everyone is tired but they all did well.
Pat shared this reflection on today's adventures:
"Today we woke up around 7:30am and from there we had a nice breakfast and started to prepare for the day. We left for the ski lodge at around 9:15 and we were skiing by 10:30! When we first walked to the van we did not think it would be too cold but we soon realized what -6 felt like. Although it was so cold we were taking off our layers within an hour of skiing. We started a nice straight and flat trail and worked our way up to a trail with many ups and downs and had to climb a couple big hills. What I was most surprised about today was how hot I was when I was skiing, I did not think I would be taking off any layers but I ended up in one shirt and a sweatshirt and I was still sweating! Another thing that really wowed me was how hard I fell going down an intermediate hill. I ended up landing in about 3 feet of powder so I couldn’t complain. After a long day we ended it with some chicken stir fry, it was a good day but also long."
