DVFS + EITC + OSTC = A formula for success!
Delaware Valley Friends School is an Approved Scholarship Organization under both the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) program. Corporate donations received through these programs are earmarked exclusively for financial aid.
The cost of educating students with learning differences is extremely high because of the need for one-on-one instruction, highly trained teachers, small classes and sophisticated learning technologies. Quite often, the students we serve have fallen far behind, suffer from low self-esteem because of a lack of success in traditional school, and are in need of intensive remediation to bring them up to grade level.
The EITC and OSTC programs have opened the doors for our most needy families, providing critical financial aid to students who might otherwise not be able to consider enrolling at DVFS. The more money we raise through corporate donations under these programs, the more financial aid we can direct to families in need.
The way these programs work are as follows:
- Corporations must first apply for and be approved to receive tax credits through the Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED), which administers the program.
- Corporations must then donate the equivalent dollar amount to approved educational organizations.
- When a non-profit receives a gift through the program, they must send a receipt to the company specifying the amount of the donation.
- The company uses that receipt as proof to the State that they are entitled to the tax credits awarded.
- The company is also entitled to the Federal tax write-off for the charitable donation.
- The scholarship organization must report to the state each year on the amount of EITC or OSTC donations received and how many students received financial aid through those funds.
Companies can apply for EITC or OSTC Tax Credits by going to the OSTC-New PA website
and filling in the Single Application for Assistance Form.
