Corporate Giving

Transforming Lives!
Philanthropy means "the love of humanity"—love in the sense of caring for, nourishing, developing, or enhancing human potential. At Delaware Valley Friends School, each and every gift we receive from a corporate donor helps nourish the young minds of our students, helps develop students’ potential and helps enhance the classroom experiences for students who learn differently. Learn more about how your company can support DVFS. Check out the many ways the business community can be directly involved in the education of our students.

EITC
It costs a dime to give a dollar!  The Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program allows business in the Commonwealth to earn as tax credit for donations made to Delaware Valley Friends School.  A gift from your company to DVFS for scholarships can provide your company with a substantial Pennsylvania tax credit. Indeed, it costs a dime to give a dollar!

Here’s how it works: EITC provides companies paying taxes in Pennsylvania with a 75% tax credit for donations to scholarship organizations.  DVFS is an approved scholarship organization. The tax credit increases to 90% if your company commits to making the same donation for two consecutive years. Contributions are also eligible for federal and state charitable deduction tax treatment.  DVFS will use your contribution to provide tuition aid to students in need, following the State’s specifications for eligibility.  EITC funds are limited and awarded on a first come first served basis, with applications accepted by the state on July 1. The sooner your company makes its commitment, the more likely funds will still be available for this fiscal year.  For detailed instructions and an application, please go to www.newpa.gov and consult with your accountant or tax professional.

OSTC - Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credits
Basic information on the OSTC program:
The Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit program is a new "bucket" of tax credits (approximately $50M) that are available to companies paying PA State taxes that make charitable donations to "approved" educational organizations specifically to be used for      need-based financial aid for students.

Delaware Valley Friends School is approved to receive donations from companies participating in OSTC!

OSTC was created as an expansion of the EITC program.

The way the program works is as follows:
  1. Corporations must first apply for and be approved to receive tax credits through the Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED), which administers the program.
  2. Corporations must then donate the equivalent dollar amount to approved educational organizations.
  3. When a non-profit receives a gift through the program, they must send a receipt to the company specifying the amount of the donation.
  4. The company uses that receipt as proof to the State that they are entitled to the tax credits awarded.
  5. The company is also entitled to the Federal tax write-off for the charitable donation.
  6. The scholarship organization must report to the state each year on the amount of OSTC donations received and how many students received financial aid through those funds.
Companies can apply for Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credits by going to the OSTC-New PA website and filling in the Single Application for Assistance Form.

Consult your company’s Human Resources Department to find out if your company has a matching gift policy. If you send in your gift by mail, please include your company’s matching gift form with your gift. If you make a gift on-line, please send your company’s matching gift form to DVFS/Development, 19 East Central Avenue, Paoli, PA 19301.  Corporate matching gifts to DVFS can double or even triple your donation!
