DV team wins 2016 US Navy underwater engineering competition
DVFS’s Dragon Dynamix out-performed 27 other regional high school teams in US Navy’s 2016 Sea Perch underwater robotics competition and earned an invitation to the national competition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (more)

“Grassroots Feminists” - a film produced by the Feminist Club and filmmaker Dori Markovitz ‘16 and an LD Student's Educational Journey by filmmaker Olivia Waterman '17 - won the Judges Choice Award in the New Media category at the 2016 and 2017 Bridge Film Festivals. (more)


DV presents the world premier of two original musical productions
Resonance, an original musical written by student Helena Nocentino ‘16 premiered in May, 2016 and Rough Sketch, our second original musical premiered on March, 2017 - both featuring DVFS student actors and musicians and directed by DV alum and award-winning actor Khalil Munir ‘01. (more)


We know a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
In 2014 and 2016, DVFS students traveled to India and worked with Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) and its founder, 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi. (more)

Our middle school went on a Mission to Mars
In a Middle School STEAM unit, students designed and built rockets capable of reaching Mars, devised a system to protect their “eggstronauts” during landing, and created a solar-powered rover to help them explore the alien world. (more)


Our reading and writing program is the only one in the tri-state area accredited for teaching and training excellence by BOTH leaders in LD education

Our Boy's lacrosse team won the 2017 Tri-County Independent School League Championship
80% of students play on one of our DVFS sports teams. We offer teams for boys and girls in 7 sports across 3 seasons and have a no-cut policy for participation. (more)


Every December, DVFS students learn to sail off the coast of Biscayne Bay, Florida
