ABLE Know the Ropes

Know The Ropes is Scheduled for Fall 2014

This is the most accommodating of any of the ABLE courses and is a great course for students who are not interested in an extended trip and for those who want to choose their own level of difficulty.

The Know The Ropes course takes place locally at sites off campus, such as the Westtown School. To begin, there are group challenges that start out easy and low to the ground. As the course progresses, the activities get more challenging and higher off the ground. Each individual can choose his or her level of height and difficulty, but everyone is expected to take on significant challenges at their level.

This is a great course for students who are not interested in an extended trip or wilderness experience. Students develop problem-solving skills and trust through group initiatives. They also become aware of how they respond to real and self-imposed limits and how they evaluate risk within the context of increasingly challenging initiatives on low and high ropes courses.

The course includes a series of regular class meetings and 6 all-day trips that will occur on school days and non-school days in October and November 2014.
