Costa Rica Adventures
Delaware Valley Friends School has been using Costa Rica Adventures for the Spring Break ABLE trip since 2006. Costa Rican Adventures is the only outfitter we know of, outside of Outward Bound, who offers this type of experience. Our program is experiential education and is not solely ecotourism. For four days we hike in the central highland and spend each night with a subsistence farming family, miles from the nearest road. The final three days are structured as an ecotourism experience. The Costa Rican Adventures wilderness guides are trained in wilderness first aid, they know the area, and they have known the families where we stay for years. We first learned about Costa Rican Adventures from Episcopal Academy, who have been sending their students to Costa Rica for many years.
