In ABLE’s Costa Rica trip, students visit the jungles, meet local
families, see the wildlife, snorkel in the warm water of the Pacific
Ocean, work to speak Spanish, and push personal limits.
We hike in dense, remote wilderness of the Los Santos Forest
Reserve and spend each night living with local subsistence farming
families. The four day hike takes us from our guide Andy’s Eco Lodge at
9,000 feet elevation down to 2,000 feet where we meet our bus and ride
to the beach. As we pass through the life zones, everything around us
changes. Once at the coast, our itinerary takes us to the Osa peninsula
and Isla de Cano. On the Osa peninsula we search for wildlife and then
travel to Canyon Island to snorkel and see the wildlife living in the
sea.
