ABLE Backpacking

This is the most physically challenging ABLE course, but it is well worth it to see this pristine wilderness with some of the most spectacular mountains on the East Coast of the U.S.

Six students with two teachers backpack through the High Peaks Region of the Adirondack Mountains of New York State for six-days and five-nights. Most nights are spent in an Adirondack lean-to.  The students, using MSR backpacking stoves, cook all the meals.  Water is pumped and filtered from the mountain streams. These are..  The group travels together and makes every effort to climb at least one scenic peak and may climb several peaks.  Fall is one of the best times to visit this area with all the fall foliage, cool nights and warm days, and very few bugs.
