Quakerism

Quaker values of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship (S.P.I.C.E.S.) shape the fabric of daily life at Delaware Valley Friends School.

The Quaker approach to education celebrates the individual - encouraging students to maximize their potential to learn, build self-esteem, and come to appreciate their unique differences.  The belief that there is that of God in every human brings a quality of caring respect to the interactions among students and teachers, teachers and staff, parents and teachers.

The community honors the creativity and unique mind of each individual. Delaware Valley Friends operates on the notion that true personal worth resides not in prestige, material possessions or even in glittering achievement, but in the conduct and character of our lives.

Problem-solving, patience and communication skills are the tools of choice for dealing with issues of learning and behavior management.  In the classroom and on the playing field, integrity and self-discipline emerge through high expectations, firm guidance, and participatory leadership.  Because the community honors the creativity and unique mind of each individual, DVFS is an environment where students can be themselves and take risks without being afraid to fail.

Delaware Valley Friends School is for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia and other language-based learning disabilities as well as ADD/ADHD.
